Waiver Policy

At Pacific Group of e-Journals (PaGe), we are committed to supporting researchers worldwide, particularly those from low- and middle-income countries or institutions with limited funding. To ensure that financial constraints do not hinder the publication of valuable research, PaGe offers waiver on Article Processing Charges (APC) based on eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for Waivers and Discounts

1. Authors from Low- and Middle-Income Countries

Authors from countries classified as low-income or lower-middle-income economies by the World Bank may be eligible for full or partial waivers. This is to encourage and support researchers from resource-constrained regions to publish their work without financial barriers.

2. Authors with Limited Institutional Funding

Researchers who lack access to adequate institutional or grant funding can apply for APC waivers or discounts. PaGe recognizes the importance of ensuring that all researchers have the opportunity to publish their findings, regardless of their financial situation.

Application Process

Authors wishing to apply for a waiver or discount should submit a formal request during the manuscript submission process. The request should include:

  • A cover letter explaining the reasons for the request.
  • Proof of country of residence (for low- and middle-income country applicants).
  • Details of funding limitations or institutional support.
  • Any relevant documentation supporting the waiver application (e.g., proof of student status).

Please note that the request for a waiver or discount must be submitted before the peer review process begins. Requests made after the article has been accepted for publication will not be considered.

Decision on Waivers and Discounts

All waiver and discount requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The editorial team will consider the following:

  • The author’s country of residence or institutional funding situation.
  • The importance and quality of the research being submitted.
  • The overall financial health of the author’s institution or research grant support.

The decision on waivers and discounts is final and will be communicated to the authors before the completion of the peer review process.

Limitations

  • Waivers or discounts are not automatically granted and must be formally requested.
  • PaGe has a limited budget for providing APC waivers each year; therefore, not all requests may be approved.
  • Authors from high-income countries or well-funded institutions are generally not eligible for waivers or discounts.

Transparency

Waivers and discounts provided by PaGe do not affect the integrity or quality of the peer review process. All submitted manuscripts are reviewed based on their academic merit, regardless of the financial circumstances of the authors.
