Unless otherwise stated, authors retain copyright in their articles. Upon acceptance, authors grant APALM a non-exclusive right to publish the Version of Record. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction in any medium for any lawful purpose, provided appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated.

What users can do
Under CC BY 4.0, anyone may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, text- and data-mine, or otherwise reuse the content, including commercially, with attribution and indication of changes. No additional legal or technical restrictions may be applied beyond the CC BY terms.
How to attribute (TASL)
When reusing APALM content, please include: Title, Author(s), Source (journal/DOI), and License. Example:
“Singh R, Doe J. Title of article. Annals of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (2025). https://doi.org/… © The Authors. Licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).”
Third-party material
Images, figures, tables, or other third-party content included in an article are covered by CC BY 4.0 unless a different credit line is indicated. If a credit line states different terms (e.g., “All Rights Reserved” or a different CC license), those terms override CC BY for that item. Users must obtain permission from the rights holder for any reuse not permitted by the credit line.
Author self-archiving
Authors may post preprints, author-accepted manuscripts (AAMs), and the Version of Record immediately (no embargo) in institutional/subject repositories and on personal or departmental webpages. Please retain the CC BY 4.0 notice, add the full citation, and link to the publisher’s DOI. See the journal’s Repository & Self-Archiving Policy for details.

You’re welcome to link directly to any APALM page or article (“deep linking” is permitted). Please use descriptive link text and do not frame our pages or imply endorsement.

Machine-readable licensing
APALM displays the license name, version, and link on article HTML/PDF and exposes the license in article metadata to support indexing and compliance checks. DOAJ requires that license information be clearly described on the website and indicated on all full texts.
