Open Access Policy

1. Our open access commitment

APALM provides immediate, free, and permanent open access to all published content. We also define user rights so readers know exactly how content can be reused. Our goal is to remove access barriers and enable broad dissemination and reuse of research findings.

2. License

Unless otherwise stated, all articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). This license permits sharing, adaptation, distribution, and reproduction for any purpose, including commercial use, provided appropriate attribution is given, a link to the license is provided, and any changes are indicated. No additional legal or technological restrictions may be applied.

3. Copyright and author rights

Authors retain copyright in their work. By submitting and, upon acceptance, publishing with APALM, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish and to identify APALM as the place of first publication. Authors may reuse, distribute, and post their work in line with the CC BY 4.0 license and our Repository & Self-Archiving Policy (preprint, accepted manuscript, and Version of Record allowed; no embargo). Please include the full citation and DOI link when sharing any version.

4. Article-level license display and metadata

APALM shows the license name, version, and link on every article landing page and PDF, and we expose license information in the article’s metadata to support indexing and machine readability.

5. Third-party content

Images, figures, or other third-party materials included in an article are covered by the article’s CC BY 4.0 license unless a different credit line is indicated. If material is not included under CC BY 4.0, users must obtain permission from the rights holder before reuse.

6. Fees and waivers

Our open access is immediate (no embargoes). Article Processing Charges (APCs) and waiver/discount options—which do not influence editorial decisions—are described on the Article Processing Charges page.

7. Corrections and retractions

When the scholarly record needs to be updated, APALM follows standard editorial practice by issuing corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate. These notices remain openly accessible under the same license terms.
