Archiving & Digital Preservation

Our commitment

APALM preserves the scholarly record to ensure long-term access to published articles, even in the event of catastrophic data loss or platform change.

Primary preservation: PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

APALM participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), a community service designed to digitally preserve OJS journals. PKP PN is built on LOCKSS (“Lots Of Copies Keep Stuff Safe”) technology, which distributes preserved content across a network of libraries for resilient, decentralized protection.

  • What this means for readers and authors: if the journal’s primary site were ever unavailable, preserved content can be restored from the network so that articles remain accessible.

  • About PKP PN: provided by the Public Knowledge Project for OJS journals; preservation is automated once eligibility and plugin configuration are in place.

Publisher statement

The Pacific Group of e-Journals (PaGe) mentions that its journals are archived through PKP PN; see the publisher’s Indexing & Archiving page for details.

Additional protections & interoperability

  • DOIs: Every article receives a persistent DOI for durable citation and discovery.

  • OAI-PMH: Article metadata is exposed via the journal’s OAI endpoint to support harvesting and indexing by libraries and databases. (OJS OAI endpoint: /oai.)

  • Local backups: In addition to network preservation, the journal’s hosting environment performs routine server backups.

Self-archiving by authors

Authors may also deposit the preprint, Author Accepted Manuscript, and Version of Record in institutional/subject repositories with no embargo, with citation and DOI link—see our Repository & Self-Archiving Policy
