FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How quickly will my accepted manuscript appear online?

After acceptance, manuscripts move to production. APALM posts articles in the current monthly issue when production (typesetting/layout, metadata checks) is complete and the post-publication proof check is returned. See the “Tips for faster publication” note on the journal homepage.

When will the final version be published?

APALM is a monthly journal (12 issues/year). Final publication depends on production complexity and the speed of author responses at proof. Proofs are sent after the article is online and should be returned within 48–72 hours; only typographical or production corrections are permitted at this stage (no substantive changes).

How often are issues published?

Monthly (12 issues/year) since 2018 (bi-monthly in 2017; quarterly 2014–2016).

How do I submit?

Submit electronically through APALM’s OJS system (registration/login required). Follow the Author Guidelines and use the official templates provided under “Download Template for Manuscript preparation.”

What file formats and checklist items are required at submission?

Manuscripts must be Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx) with figures included in the main file for review. Upload the Cover Letter & Title Page as a supplementary file, and complete all metadata and declarations.

Will my article be open access?

Yes. All APALM articles are open access under CC BY 4.0, permitting sharing and adaptation with attribution. The license is shown on article pages and in metadata.

What are the Article Processing Charges (APCs)? Are there colour/page charges?

See the APC page for current fees. There are no submission, page, or colour figure charges; APCs are payable only upon acceptance.

Are APC waivers or discounts available?

APALM considers waiver/discount requests, especially for authors from low- and lower-middle-income economies (per World Bank). Request at submission with a brief justification; decisions are independent of editorial outcomes. See the Waiver Policy link from the APC page.

What does the APC cover?

Editorial management, peer review coordination, plagiarism screening, copyediting/typesetting, DOI registration/hosting, indexing/metadata distribution, and long-term preservation/archiving.

Where is APALM indexed?

APALM is indexed in Embase (Elsevier); please consult the “About the Journal” page for current index information.

Do APALM articles receive DOIs?

Yes. Each article is assigned a DOI under the prefix 10.21276/APALM (visible on article pages and PDFs).

Can I deposit my article in a repository?

Yes. APALM supports immediate self-archiving; see the Repository & Self-Archiving Policy and Open Access Policy for permitted versions and citations.

Can I make changes after proofs?

Only typographical/layout corrections are allowed at proof. Substantive changes (data, analyses, conclusions, author list/affiliations) are not permitted at proof. Post-publication errors are handled transparently via our Corrections & Retractions policy (no silent edits).

How do I track my manuscript?

Log in to your OJS account to check status. Also watch your email (and spam) for editorial communications, as noted on the journal homepage.

Do APCs include print copies or delivery?

No. APALM’s APC covers online publication and indexing/archiving only. Print copies and delivery are not included. Authors who want a print issue (current or back issues) can order separately via the publisher’s store; pricing and availability are listed there.

How can I order print issues?

See the Print Issue page for ordering current/past print copies.
